DESCRIPTION:1. This event is being organized by the Agones Sfc with the support of THE CYCLIST\, under the auspices of the Malta Cycling Federation and shall be held in accordance with the Rules & Regulations of the Malta Cycling Federation.2. This event is open to all cyclists registered and licensed with the Malta Cycling Federation as well as registered students of the cycling clubs3. Cyclists are to use race numbers as assigned to them by the Malta Cycling Federation and are required to use 2 back numbers and one clearly visible bike frame number. Riders of various categories may also be asked to wear a hand band with distinctive colours to help the organisers4. All riders are to have their timing chip set on their bikes as instructed by the MCF. DUE TO THE TIMING SYSTEM SET UP NO PARTICIPANTS CAN BE ON THE RACE ROUTE OR CLOSE TO THE START AND FINISHING LINE UNLESS THEY ARE RACING. Riders that cross the line while they are not racing or warm up on the racecourse before their race will automatically be detected by the system and marked as NON STARTER.5. Conventional ‘CE’ Approved helmets are to be worn during warm-up and throughout the event6. Cyclists who have finished competing in the race should refrain from cycling on the race circuit.7. Cyclists are NOT ALLOWED to warm up or cycle on the circuit unless they are competing.8. Lapped cyclists must retire from the race and must do so immediately on being advised. Reframing from retiring may cause the race director to suspend the whole cycling team.9. Team vehicles shall not be allowed on the circuit although a nominated event safety car/motorcycle may be allowed on the circuit.10. Cyclists are not to approach the Timekeepers table for results. Each club should designate a club delegate to help on the finish line if need be.11. If a cyclist has a grievance or complaint\, the cyclist should advise his/her Club Delegate who should forward the grievance/complaint to the organizers through the proper channels.12. Cyclists must obey all instructions given by race officials or marshals and failure to obey such instructions and these regulations may result in disqualification. The RACE DIRECTOR has the final say.13. Cyclists club is to send their athletes participation list by Friday 6th February 202614.\nFee is €20 per athlete to be settled by clubs by Friday 6th\nFebruary 2026 via bank transfer on acc num Agones SFC IBAN: MT29VALL2201300000004002001815515.\nThe Organizers shall announce provisional results on the day and presentation will be held as soon as the race of each category is over.\nCyclists who fail to be present for the presentation may lose the right to receive the trophy.\nOfficial results will be posted on the agones sfc website and found on the ARRTS timing system website.\nCriterium Format\n• This event shall be held on Tuesday 10th February at 9.00 at Safi/Kirkop By pass. Cyclists in different categories have the following laps and time to complete the race as detailed hereunder:\nJuniors = 30 mins + 1 lapsLadies\, Master 40 +\, Master 50 = 30mins + 3 lapElite Cyclists\, u23 = 35 mins + 3 laps• The route is a loop of 2km.\n• Race route shall be closed for vehicular traffic except for emergency services• For more information\, please visit our event page.·\nAs per MCF regulation a category will not be held unless 3 athletes are registered in it.\nPlease make sure you are at the starting line at least 30 minutes before your designated start. DESCRIPTION:Agones SFC will once again be organising the Agones Duathlon 2026. \nThe race is supported by the Safi and Kirkop Local Council \nThe Duathlon is a draft legal multi-sport event and is endorsed by the MTF and valid for the TOYT point system. \nThe race consists of a 4km run (2 loops)\, 17km bike (8 loops) and 2km run (1 loop) \nThe senior race will start at 7.30am sharp with a 1hr 30mins time limit to finish the event. \nBike check will be at 6.30am. \nRace briefing will be held at 7.15am. Females and Males will start together \nThere will be a water station near the Bike / Run Transition. In order to help the organizers and to make sure we leave the place clean we encourage everyone to throw the bottles in the bins which will be placed along the route. Failing to do so may incur into time penalty. \nIn the eventuality of bad weather\, the race director will make the necessary decisions 15 minutes prior to the race start and the race will be moved to a more appropriate date. The application status at this stage would be Confirmed\, as long as the fee is received before the race is full and the applications are closed. \nApplication fees\nApplication fees are non refundable and cannot be transferred to another event\, even if in the unlikely event that the event is not held for whatever reason or the applicant cannot participate for whatever reason. \nRace numbers\, pins and timing chips\nRace numbers\, pins and timings chips will be given out at registration. \nDo not remove or tamper with your timing chip. The timing chip is embedded in a white strip at the back of the number. \nUnder no circumstance should you ever cross the start and finish lines with somebody else’s timing chip on you. Do not give your race number to anyone else\, this could lead to your disqualification from future organised races. \nStart time\nThe Express Trailers Zurrieq Half Marathon will start at 0700 Hrs and has a 3 hour time limit. \nThe Express Trailers Zurrieq 10k and Walk will start at 0745 Hrs and have a 1.5 hour and 2 hour time limit respectively. \nThe Express Trailers Zurrieq Kids Race will start at 0945 Hrs. \nFinish line\nThe finish line for the Half Marathon and 10K will close at 1000\, San Michel and Powerade will be provided at the finish. \nHalf Marathon and 10K Routes\nDownload Zurrieq Half Marathon\, 10K & Kids Map\nThe topographical features and the bad state of a number of roads surrounding Zurrieq make finding an ideal route a difficult task. The Zurrieq Half Marathon was known for it’s tough course so the our prime task when asked to organise this event by the Zurrieq Wolves Athletic Club in 2013 was to change the route to one that was less strenuous and more attractive to prospective participants. Together with a new half marathon route we had to find a 10K route that was to be incorpoarted as a new event with the half marathon. \nWe believe that we have found 2 routes that will no longer make the Zurrieq event known for it’s tough route. \nBoth the half marathon and 10K pass by a number of surrounding villages. \nHalf Marathon\nThe Half Marathon starts right in front of the Zurrieq Parish Church. \nStart to 4km – Zurrieq to Qrendi \n4km to 5km – Qrendi to Mqabba \n5km to 7km – Mqabba to Kirkop \n7km to 12km – Kirkop to Hal-Far \n12km to 18km – Hal-Far t to Kirkop cemetry via tunnels & roundabout \n18km to 20km – Round Kirkop perimeter \n20km to 21km – Kirkop to Zurrieq & Finish \nThe finish is also opposite the Zurrieq Parish Church \n10K\nThe 10k starts right in front of the Zurrieq Parish Church. \nStart to 4km – Zurrieq to Qrendi \n4km to 5km – Qrendi to Mqabba \n5km to 7km – Mqabba to Kirkop cemetry via roundabout between Kirkop & tunnels \n7km to 9km – Round Kirkop perimeter \n9km to 10km – Kirkop to Zurrieq & Finish \nThe finish is also opposite the Zurrieq Parish Church \nCommemorative medal\nAll athletes finishing within their race time limit will be give a commemorative medal after they cross the finish line. \nAwards for both the Express Trailers Zurrieq Half Marathon and the Express Trailers Zurrieq 10k: \n1st 3 Males\, 1st 3 Females\, \n1st 3 Male Teams\, 1st 3 Female Teams \n1st Male U23\, 1st Female U23 \n1st & 2nd M/F over 40\, 1st & 2nd M/F over 45\, 1st & 2nd M/F over 50\, 1st & 2nd M/F over 55\, 1st & 2nd M/F over 60\, 1st & 2nd M/F over 65\, 1st & 2nd M/F over 70 \nNote: The age group category of each individual will be based on the age of the individual on the day of the race\, as allowed by the World Athletics Competition and Technical rules (See footnote of Rule 141). \nTeam competition\nA team may represent any club or group\, a team will consist of 3 runners. Every 3 same sex\, members of a club or group\, who finish the event will be classified as having participated in the team competition. Runners who do NOT name their team on their application form will NOT be classified as having participated in the team competition. Requests for team changes after an application form has been sent in\, may only be made by the participant himself or herself. Team names deemed offensive or otherwise may not be accepted by the organisers. Team awards will be based on the overall positions of the individual team members. If 2 or more teams finish on equal points the top places will be awarded to the first team/s whose last participant finishes before the other team’s last particpant. \nAward ceremony\nThe award ceremony will be held in the morning at the finish towards the end of the event. Hang around because you or a friend of yours may have won an award. The organiser is not responsible for awards not collected in person by the winners during the award giving ceremony. \nAwards for the Kids Race\nThere will be no awards after each Kids Race but each finisher will still receive a medal. \nThe Zurrieq Kids Race is part of the Kids Hall Of Fame. Each kid will receive a number of points dependant on his/her finishing position and the number of finishers in the race. These points will be added to any other points received in the other 4 Kids Races of the Kids Series. \nKids Hall Of Fame awards will be given at the end of the Kids Series to the 1st 3 M/F over 5\, 1st 3 M/F over 7\, 1st 3 M/F over 10 and 1st 3 M/F over 13 who obtain the most points at the end of the series. \nThe following kids races form part of the Kids HOF Series: Attard (September)\, LRC (October)\, Zurrieq (November)\, Attard (January) and Malta Marathon (February). \nResults\nResults will be available from the Malta Marathon website once they have been made official\, participants who registered on-line or by post and who have given a valid and clear email address will be advised by email when the results are available. \nOther race information\nThe following are some important race details. \nToilet facilities are available close to the start and finish.\nAthletes who in any way deface or fold their race number are liable to disqualification; numbers are to be worn on the front and are to be clearly visible.\nAthletes who are not clearly behind the start line at the start of their race are also liable to disqualification.\nFaster athletes should be given preference to stay at the front of the starting line\, please do not hinder faster runners.\nThere will be 3 water stations at approximately the 5th\, 10th and 16th km for the Zurrieq Half Marathon. There will be 1 water station at approximately the 5th km for the 10k and Walk.\nKilometres will be marked along the route. KMs are not necessarily precise but may only be indicative.\nThere will be LESA officers to control traffic in various parts of the route but remember the route is not traffic free\, so we urge you to be cautious and where possible run on the pavements. Better to be safe than a couple of seconds faster.
